This collectible plush is the result of a unique collaboration between Teen Angels Magazine, the iconic publication that documented and celebrated Chicano street culture, and Hey Ruca, a brand rooted in honoring Chicana heritage through contemporary art and fashion. Teen Angel’s Magazine launched in 1980 by artist and former Lowrider Magazine contributor Teen Angel (Dave Holland), Teen Angel’s Magazine became a groundbreaking publication that documented and celebrated Chicano culture in the Varrios of California and the Southwest. Known for its distinctive mix of artwork, poetry, dedications, and photographs, the magazine gave voice to a generation, from incarcerated youth to street artists and lowrider enthusiasts. With its iconic floral borders and black-and-gray tattoo art, Teen Angel’s Magazine captured the beauty, struggle, and pride of barrio life—transforming street culture into timeless art. Even decades later, its influence endures, inspiring Chicano artists around the world.

Cecelia Perez, professionally known as Hey Ruca, is a Chicana artist and entrepreneur based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Hey Ruca’s artwork serves as a heartfelt tribute to her cultural roots, encapsulating the essence of strong women, the allure of classic cars, and the rich tapestry of Chicano nostalgia. Her creations often feature elements like dreamy clouds, city skylines, and motifs inspired by Mexican-American iconography.
