WICKED GARY attended Erasmus High School in Brooklyn in the early 1970s. The school was fertile ground for many writers who knew each other. DINO NOD, a natural born leader, decided to form a group called the EX VANDALS for EXPERIENCED VANDALS. He and WICKED GARY recruited the best talent they could, and then started writing EX VANDALS around the perimeter of the school. It was one of two rules for the group, you hit the name of the group up first, and they were purely a writing gang, there would be no violence. This separated them from other gangs. DINO NOD and WICKED GARY held meetings, and handed out maps of the neighborhoods they were going to tag each night, this included other boroughs and trains as well. As DINO NOD started to age out of writing, WICKED GARY took over the group and in a bold move made the long trek to the Bronx in 1972 to recruit new members. These writers would turn out to be the best of the best including PHASE 2 and STAY HIGH 149. In 1973, WICKED GARY joined the UNITED GRAFFITI ARTISTS, and watched as newer super groups began to emerge, satisfied in the knowledge that the EX VANDALS came first. He’s maintained an interest in the writing culture for over fiy years and still leads the EX VANDALS to this day.
Care Instructions: Machine wash cold water, inside out, with like colors. Tumble dry low. Do not beach. Warm iron if needed.
