MIKE 171 grew up on the corner of 171st Street and Audubon Avenue in Washington Heights. He is part of the first generation New York graffiti writers. A natural leader, MIKE 171 was an original organizing member of UGA and appeared in some of the earliest press on the movement including New York Magazine. MIKE171 along friends SJK171 and JEC* pioneered painting trains at the 168th ST A train lay-up and 207th ST MTA Ghostyard, spreading their names throughout the city. Years later, he embarked on a new chapter of his life by joining the military. MIKE171 continues to be a present figure in today's street art culture.
