LA-ZAR was an all-city hand style writer from Brooklyn who, after a chance meeting with WICKED GARY, was recruited into the EX-VANDALS in the early 70s. The distinctive flourishes of his signature stood out at a time when straight letter writing prevailed in Manhattan and the Bronx. He continued to write until his sophomore year at university in’74, when a life-threatening close call with a subway train made him reconsider his priorities. He retired shortly thereafter.
