KATSU is a new-media artist with roots in the design, graffiti and hacker communities, known for his work on “autonomous art” made by drones and AI portraiture. His “smiley face” paintings are made by a drone tool KATSU engineered to paint surfaces — from billboards to canvas. Lately he has been involved in a project called KATSURU, which will develop and deploy AI-powered painting drones to the general public. KATSU graduated from Parsons School of Design, where he studied painting, digital design and socially conscious design practices. He currently lives and works between NYC and SF.
