Jason REVOK
Jason REVOK is a self-taught Los Angeles-based artist who moved to a studio practice after more than 20 years of painting graffiti. He has transcended the boundaries of traditional graffiti, at once building on that foundation and stripping it down to its core essence and intent. Jason’s studio practice is broad and multilayered. REVOK has appropriated many of the tools once used by his adversaries working against him to erase his existence in the world. Assemblage, sculpture and unique self-made tools — such as a custom-built painting “instrument” housing 12 spray cans with the ability to be deployed simultaneously in one large blast, and massive Spirograph machines custom-designed to use spray paint — are also key components, resulting in an almost machine-like production process that is equal parts painting and performance, embracing missteps and human error.
