INVADER
Paris, France
INVADER is a French artist whose tile mosaics emulate the pixelation of 1970s- and 1980s-era video games. He started this art game in which he is the only player in the streets of his hometown, Paris, in 1998, and it quickly went international, with more than 75 cities “invaded” to date. One of his pieces, “Space2,” even found a home on the Columbus module of the International Space Station in 2015. In addition to these distinctive street installations, which he systematically documents, INVADER has developed a thriving studio practice and exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world. His latest works spread a pro-vegetarian message through the streets of Paris, but as far as INVADER is concerned, the game is never over.
