HENRY 161 grew up in Washington Heights and was the leader of the Young Galaxies street gang during his adventures in graffiti. He was known for the three-pointed crown tipping off the left side of the “H” of his tag. He was the first writer Hugo Martinez met in the graffiti world while launching United Graffiti Artists (UGA). He introduced Martinez to his friends MIKE 171, SJK 171, CAY 161, and JUNIOR 161. After several disputes and confrontations, HENRY 161 was no longer a UGA member but continued to write until 1974, when he joined the United States Marine Corps.
