DEFER’s obliterated letter forms echo the language and traditions of his birthplace in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Using an automatic and spontaneous volley of brushstrokes to convey messages from the subconscious, DEFER has been an integral part of the graffiti art movement in Los Angeles since the mid-1980s. Over the past dozen years his work has moved into the realm of fine art.
