Andrew Schoultz’s themes of chaos and destruction often take the form of large-scale installations, paintings, and works on paper, making sly use of iconography to engage viewers in a bit of social commentary within the public space. His mixed-media creations appear in the public collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Progressive Art Collection (Ohio), in addition to publicly funded murals in Portland (Maine), Jogjakarta (Indonesia), and San Francisco. His “spinning optical” pieces are the latest of his massive-scale works. Schoultz lives and works in Los Angeles.
