Teen Angel Classic Tank Top Returns

A groundbreaking publication from the 1980s through the early 2000s, Teen Angel’s Magazine was ahead of its time, offering a platform for Chicano art, lowrider culture, and tattoo artistry, with every issue uniting communities and acting like a cultural beacon. A one-time writer and artist for Lowrider Magazine in the late 1970s, founder Teen Angel ventured into publishing on his own in 1980 when he launched Teen Angel’s Magazine. Edgy yet whimsical, the publication featured artwork, dedications, photographs, poems and articles all focusing on life in the Varrios of California and the Southwest.

Part of the intrigue of Teen Angel’s Magazine was its embrace of the unique dress aesthetic of cholos and cholas and one of the most memorable pieces was the iconic Teen Angel tank top, a nostalgic design that graced the pages of many issues of Teen Angel's Magazine throughout the 80s, highlighting the simple yet bold Chicano style of the time. Wanting to pay homage to the original as authentically as possible, we reproduced the classic black and white tank as part of our ongoing Dedicated to You collection. Previously only sold at the gallery, we are now making a limited number available online.
