NADYA TOLOKONNIKOVA IN CONVERSATION WITH POLO CUTTY on DECEMBER 12
BEYOND THE STREETS is honored to welcome artist, activist, and Pussy Riot founding member Nadya Tolokonnikova for a powerful one-night event celebrating the release of her new book, POLICE STATE. Taking place on Friday, December 12, this program brings together bold storytelling, resistance art, and unflinching political critique; led by one of the most vital voices in modern protest culture.
POLICE STATE documents Nadya Tolokonnikova’s groundbreaking 10-day performance exhibition at MOCA Los Angeles (June 2025), featuring photographs, prison letters, etchings, artwork by fellow Russian political prisoners, and vivid documentation of the ICE and No Kings Day protests held outside the museum during her exhibition, each element woven into a larger narrative of defiance, endurance, and the ongoing fight for liberation. As a founding member of Pussy Riot, Nadya’s work continues to challenge oppressive systems through fearless creativity.
Hosted at the BEYOND THE STREETS Gallery (434 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036), the evening features Nadya in conversation with Polo Cutty (Channel 5), known for his sharp cultural reporting and unfiltered insight. Together, they’ll unpack the making of POLICE STATE, Pussy Riot’s continued impact, and the power of performance and protest as tools for social transformation.
After the conversation, guests are invited to join a book signing, where Nadya will personally sign copies of POLICE STATE.
