MISTER CARTOON "LA CONFIDENTIAL" PRINT

In 2011, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles made history with Art in the Streets, the first major U.S. museum exhibition dedicated to graffiti and street art. The show was groundbreaking—not just because it brought a global spotlight to artists who had long existed outside the fine art establishment, but because it acknowledged street art as a vital and undeniable force in contemporary culture. It was an unprecedented moment, one that gave legendary graffiti writers and street artists the platform they deserved inside museum walls. To this day, Art in the Streets remains the most attended exhibition in MOCA’s history.

For many artists, including Mister Cartoon, this show was an opportunity to showcase work that was deeply rooted in the streets of Los Angeles. His mural, created entirely with spray paint and airbrush, told the story of LA from past to present—its culture, its people, its essence. The installation, accompanied by his custom-painted lowriders, brought a raw and authentic representation of the city’s art to a fine art institution, something rarely seen before. The mural’s impact was undeniable, even landing on the cover of LA Weekly.

Reflecting on the exhibition, Mister Cartoon shared, "Being part of Art in the Streets was a defining moment—not just for me, but for the culture. It was a chance to show the world that graffiti and street art belong in museums just as much as any other fine art."

Now, over a decade later, we are proud to release a limited edition print of this iconic mural. This release is more than just a print—it’s a continuation of the energy and significance of Art in the Streets. It’s about preserving the legacy of the show, celebrating graffiti culture on a global scale, and ensuring that the art that once lived on the museum walls continues to inspire and be seen.

BEYOND THE STREETS has always been about pushing boundaries and giving street art and graffiti the recognition it deserves. With this print, we’re honoring not only the impact of the exhibition but the generations of artists who paved the way. This is more than art—it’s history, culture, and a testament to the power of graffiti as a movement that continues to evolve.

Stay tuned for the official release and be part of this celebration of art history. Mark your calendar—this monumental print drops on Tuesday, February 25th at 9 AM PST. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of this legacy!
