Kenny Scharf Book Release & Signing!

BEYOND THE STREETS and Jeffrey Deitch presents the new 200 + page book KARBOMBZ! from Kenny Scharf book release and signing – February 21 at Village Car Wash in Los Angeles. Kenny Scharf’s KARBOMBZ! started accidentally in 2013 in Alabama and lasted for ten years. He thought there was nothing more boring than a traffic jam and set out to change that. Scharf inspired—and continues to inspire smiles around the world by transforming hundreds of people’s cars in under 30 minutes.

“One of the things I love to do is take ordinary things and elevate them through the simple act of painting them. It is my rebellion against the given,” Scharf says.

“Kenny Scharf’s Karbombz are an essential part of the visual culture of Los Angeles. Driving a Karbomded car, or seeing one on the street, you are part of the art,” says Jeffrey Deitch.

The new book KARBOMBZ! published by BEYOND THE STREETS features more than 600 images and is designed to look as though it came straight out of an early-2000s Photoshop / QuarkXPress mashup—complete with homages to car advertising and Auto Trader magazine.

Scharf will celebrate the release of the book with an in person signing event fittingly at Village Car Wash, the site of one of his newest murals from 12-4pm on February 21st . The event is free to attend, and books will be available on site for purchase.
