Alex Pardee’s illustrations, and imaginations, have graced the cover of albums for bands like Primus, The Used and In Flames, while his darkly humorous creations appear in the pages of comic books, on the sets of movies, on streetwear apparel, and even stylized Topps baseball cards. He blames 80s horror films, pop art, graffiti, gangster rap, Garbage Pail Kids and skateboard graphics for his “brightmares” aesthetic combining bright colors and nightmare-ish imagery.
This new print is from Alex Pardee’s “Congealed” series of paintings. The artist considers this series “a bunch of colorful paintings and drawings that I created using donated blood from my imaginary friends. The cool thing about imaginary friends is that their blood can be any color I want it to be! And they were generous enough to share! These pieces are some of my favorite paintings I have ever done. “
